It is
believed the principles behind air conditioning was
utilised by the Romans in Rome with cool waters from
aqueducts being circulated through the walls of houses.
Today air conditioning units are a little more advanced
and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Wall mounted air
conditioning units are quite common in
Portugal,
especially within apartments where other forms of
heating and cooling are not possible. Once the control
unit has been installed, to the interior of the
property, then the condenser unit must be sited to the
exterior. Sometimes when sited to the front of
properties these condenser units can appear ugly.
Care should be taken when
thinking of installing air conditioning about the siting
of the condenser units as they can be ugly mounted on
the front of your home as well as being noisy when
running.
Unfortunately as efficient
as air conditioning units are in cooling and heating a
room, they do need maintenance to ensure micro-bacteria
doesn't begin growing in the condenser.
However you can purchase portable air
conditioning units which have their own built in
condenser and can be moved from room to room. Though you
will have to check and dispose of any water deposits in
the condenser system to ensure you don't have a flood.
Air conditioning units vary in price,
however a good quality wall mounted system is around
500€ plus fitting. However you will have to be guided by
a specialist as to the cubic capacity of the room to
ensure the system is capably of cooling and heating it
sufficiently. |
