Apartments are perhaps the first choice of home for the
younger generation in Portugal for several reasons.

Over the
past 35 years, since the Carnation Revolution when the
country emerged from dictatorship rule, thousands of
people have flocked to the larger towns and cities in
search of employment and a better standard of living. To
encourage this exodus to the cities and towns, the
Portuguese government has encouraged the construction of
apartment buildings to ensure the steady flow of workers
have good quality homes to move into.
On the
coast however developers have also been constructing
apartment blocks with sea views to maximise their
potential income. Apartments with sea views and within
walking distance of beaches are also in demand as
holiday lets.
Apartments in Portugal can be picked up from as little
as 45,000€, though these will no doubt require some
modernisation, through to hundreds of thousands of euros
for a luxury apartment with sea views, pool and health
