A spacious six bedroom detached house with stunning views over Castelo do Bode lake and swimming pool for sale in Cabeço Gordo, near Abrantes in central Portugal. The house, which is set over four floors, is located within the village, though benefits from private patios and unrivalled views over the lake and would be ideal as a bed and breakfast style establishment.

The property is connected to both mains water and electricity and has aluminium framed single glazed windows throughout with traditional style exterior shutters. The property is accessed via a gated driveway. The driveway has been paved in stone and there is ample parking available. In front of the access gates there is also a detached, single storey garage, which provides additional parking and is large enough to accommodate up to four vehicles. The garage has a tiled floor and a sliding metal vehicle access gate.

 

Opposite the main entrance to the house there is a large, open fronted entertainment area. This entertainment area has a tiled floor and windows to one end providing views over the lake. The entertainment area has a large built in barbecue, traditional style bread oven, separate food preparation area complete with stone sink and cupboards and plenty of room for dining tables and chairs.

 

Ground floor

The main entrance to the house leads into a central hallway, which has a tiled floor and a . Off this hallway there is a spacious, double aspect kitchen. The kitchen also has a tiled floor and partially tiled walls. There is a range of built in base and eye level wooden units with marble work surfaces. The kitchen has a set of patio doors which lead out to a veranda at the rear of the house. The kitchen is spacious and there is plenty of room for a breakfast table. An archway from the kitchen leads through to an equally spacious dining area/living room. This dining area living room is also double aspect and has a tiled floor and partially tiled walls. There are three sets of sliding patio doors which lead out to verandas at the side and rear of the house. The living room area also has a centralised stone, open fireplace and a wooden ceiling.

 

There are two bedrooms to this floor, both of which have tiled floors. Between the two bedrooms there is a fully tiled bathroom which has a bath with shower above, bidet, toilet and pedestal sink. A tiled staircase within the hallway provides access to the first and lower ground floors.

 

First Floor

The first floor has a large mezzanine area, overlooking the living/dining room below. This room has a tiled floor, is spacious and has gable end windows. The mezzanine area has been utilised by the current owner for additional bedroom accommodation. There are several good sized storage cupboards off the room. There is also a spacious double bedroom to the first floor, which also has a tiled floor, as well as a fully tiled bathroom. The bathroom has a bath with shower above, toilet, bidet and pedestal sink.

 

Lower Ground Floor

There are a further three bedrooms located on the lower ground floor, all of which have tiled floors. The lower ground floor also has a large, triple aspect living room, which has two sets of patio doors leading out onto a spacious, tiled veranda and swimming pool area with great views over the lake. The living room has a centralised open fireplace with stone clad chimney breast. There is also a tiled staircase off the living room leading down to the property's cellar rooms.

 

Cellar

The most part of the property's cellar has been converted into an entertainment room and due to the position of the house on a hillside, this does have natural light via an exterior access door and windows. The entertainment room has a tiled floor and wooden beamed ceiling and a free-standing log burning stove. Off the entertainment room there is a fully tiled shower room complete with toilet, bidet and pedestal sink. In addition to this there is also a storage room off. The storage room also has a tiled floor and houses the swimming pool machinery.

 

The property is set on a plot measuring 1,000 square metres, which is on a steep incline, though there are any number of spacious tiled verandas providing great views over Castelo do Bode lake. On the lowest veranda there is a large kidney shaped swimming pool, plenty of space of sun loungers as well as tables and chairs. This veranda has a wooden pergola. There is a large, mature olive tree on this patio. Access to the various patios is possible via a series of external staircases and by the paved driveway at the side of the house.

 

The property is private though situated within the village and is in good condition. The village of Cabeço Gordo has several cafes and a small shop. The larger town of Abrantes, which is around 20 minutes drive away, has a variety of supermarkets, shops, banks, castle, schools, polytechnic, river beach, hospital, pharmacies, bus station and restaurants.

The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which is around one and three quarter hours' by car. Lisbon airport is serviced by a variety of low cost airlines, which operate regular flights into and out of the United Kingdom and other European countries.
