newly completed three storey villa with spacious, two
bedroom apartment available as holiday accommodation close to
the historic and popular town of Tomar in central Portugal.
The apartment is fully self-contained
and occupies the garden level of the property. There is a good sized
swimming pool and purpose built barbeque area including a
traditional oven for
roasting suckling pig, which is a local delicacy.
The apartment benefits from central
heating throughout (for winter guests), double glazing and
there is an open fire within the living room. There are two
bedrooms, both of which are well proportioned. The master
bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, pedestal
basin, bidet and toilet. The master bedroom has a king size bed,
built in Oak wardrobes and remote controlled ceiling fan. There
are patio doors which lead out to the patio area and swimming
pool. The
second bedroom is also well proportioned
and has two single beds and dresser. It
has a separate dedicated toilet and hand
basin, shower room.
The
kitchen is modern with granite work
surfaces and a small breakfast bar built
in, bar stools are provided. There is a
gas cooker with extractor, microwave,
toaster, kettle, fridge, freezer and all
utensils required to make your stay
comfortable.
The
living room has two three seater sofas,
coffee table and a 42 inch flat screen
television set up to receive UK FreeSat
channels including UK radio stations,
DVD player and Ipod docking station. There is an open log burning
fire for the cooler Spring and Autumn
evenings.
The
open plan dining area is extremely
spacious and is fitted with a large
table, chairs and Welsh dresser. Outside
is a large purpose built BBQ building
with seats and table. Laundry
facilities are available at a small
additional cost however basic cleaning
utensils are provided as well as an iron
and ironing board.

between check out/check in or on a
weekly basis as appropriate.
The property's garden is set over
3,500 square metres and is quiet and secluded. The garden
also has a 50 metre long border with the River Nabão. You will see
and hear an abundance of birds, as we have a number of 35 metre high
Pine trees, where many of the birds spend their days. Depending
on the time of year we see Woodpeckers, Kingfishers, Herons,
Storks, Bee-Eaters, Kites.
In August lie back on one of the
reclining chairs and watch the shooting stars flashing across
the skies. Guests that stay here often comment upon the generous
size of the apartment, the easy proximity to visit local places
of interest and the sheer peacefulness of lounging by the pool.
Notes on accommodation
The property is suitable for children but parents are
responsible for swimming pool safety rules. A strict no-smoking
policy within the apartment is applied.
Accessibility
This property has a sloping driveway and in addition access to
the lower garden may prove difficult for people with mobility
problems.
Outside
The accommodation has a large garden with direct access to the
River Nabão, which has excellent fishing. The lower lawn has a
badminton court in the Summer. The BBQ also has an oven ideal
for roasting suckling pig.
The swimming pool is 6 x 11 metres in size. It is shared only by
occupants of the apartment and the two owners. There are sun
loungers and reclining chairs provided. Secure on site parking
behind electric gates. Beside the pool is a circular stone
topped table and four chairs and centrally fitted sun shade. The
pool has good a sized patio surrounding it and borders filled
with colourful plants throughout the year.
Coast/Beach
The Castelo de Bode lake, starting just a 5 minutes drive from
the house, has multiple fluvial beaches dotted around it. The
beaches of the Silver Coast can be reached in around 70 minutes.
The beautiful coastal town of Sao Martinho de Porto is highly
recommended for its sand dunes and beach. Nazare is around a 60
minute drive.
Golf
Golden Eagle, Praia del Rei and Santo Estevão courses are all
within a 1 hour drive. Reduced green fees are available.
Special interest holidays
Beginners Portuguese courses can be provided at additional cost,
as the owner already teaches to many ex-pats in the area.
There are two
cafes/bars and a good restaurant within walking distance of
Caracara and numerous restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive.
There is a mini-market in the village.
The historic
town of Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO listed Convento de
Cristo, is only 10 minutes drive from the property. Tomar has a
variety of cafes, restaurants, cash point dispensers, hospital
(with A & E) and good sized supermarkets and bakeries. There is
a weekly market every Friday which is ideal for stocking up on
locally produced fruit and vegetables.
Castelo do Bode lake, Portugal's
second largest reservoir, only five minutes drive, where
you can partake in a number of water sports or simply chill out
on one of the cruise boats enjoying a glass of wine and a meal
on the way. Golegã, the national horse centre of Portugal is 30
minutes by car. The national horse fair is held annually at
Golegã during the first two weeks of November and it is a
stunning spectacle to see.
Fatima, one of the Catholic world's
most holy sites, is only 35 minutes drive, with the monastery
town of Batalha only 45 minutes. The preserved medieval town of Óbidos is a must see if only to walk through the 16th century
bougainvillea adorned cobbled streets. The town is enclosed
within battlements, which you can walk around and see the scale
of the town.
It also hosts the annual Festival of Chocolate - a two week
jamboree of delights for chocolate lovers.
The closest airport to the property
is situated at Lisbon, which is approximately one hours by car.
For guests wishing to drive to Portugal, Santander and Bilbao
ferry ports are situated around seven and a half hours drive
from the property.
