Rental Accommodation Information

Casa de Pera is a restored, well equipped three bedroom detached cottage sitting on the banks of the beautiful River Pera and only 50m from a popular river beach with cafes and restaurants. The property is situated on the edge of the pretty Portuguese village of Mosteiro where traditional farming methods are still in use.

 

The accommodation is set over two floors with the main entrance on the first floor and a further garden entrance on the ground floor. The light and airy open plan living space is on the ground floor with views across the garden, river and woodland surrounding the property.

 

All of the bedrooms are situated on the first floor off the large entrance hallway. There is an additional TV/DVD in bedroom three with a large selection of children's books, DVD's, CD's and a good selection of board games for all the family. The house is also connected to broadband internet and a WIFI connection is available. The house is south facing and the garden is bordered by Olive trees ensuring you can find sun or shade at any time of the day.

Family Bathroom: Large shower cubicle, WC, Bidet, Basin, Vanity unit, Heated towel rail, Electric heater.

 

Downstairs is mostly open plan and comprises:

Lounge Area: two x Large sofa's (1 converts to double bed), Wood burning stove, 32" LCD TV, TV unit, UK Satellite TV receiver, DVD player, Selection of DVD's, 2 x coffee tables, Table lamp, Bookcase with selection of English language books.

 

Dining Area: Dining table, four Chairs, Sideboard, Wine storage unit, CD Player, CD storage unit containing a selection of CD's, Portable gas heater, Air conditioning unit, two x Wicker chairs.

 

Pantry: Storage unit containing extra crockery etc, two x foldable dining chairs, Travel Cot, children's high chair, Fire blanket, Fire extinguisher, First aid kit, Vacuum cleaner.

 

WC: WC, Basin, Vanity unit, Display shelves.

 

Kitchen: A fully fitted modern kitchen comprising: Gas hob, Electric oven, Extractor fan, Microwave, Fridge Freezer, Dishwasher, Sink, Electric kettle, Electric toaster, Coffee machine. The kitchen also has a full and extensive set of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc.

 

Utility room: Gas boiler, Washing machine, Recycling bins, Electric BBQ and stand, Clothes airer, Cleaning equipment.

 

Garden

From the cool of the open plan lounge, French windows lead out onto a large sunny patio area and a small garden. The patio is equipped with a large dining table and six chairs for Al-Fresco dining. Further patio furniture includes a two seat sofa, two arm chairs and a coffee table providing the perfect place to relax with a glass of local wine.

 

There are both charcoal and electric grill BBQ's available. At the bottom of the garden there are two wooden sun loungers in the shade of the peach tree, and a metal gate leading down to the River Terrace. This area has direct access to the river and is an ideal spot for fishing. The river terrace is furnished with a wooden table and four chairs.


Casa de Pera doesn't need a swimming pool as one of the best River Beaches in Central Portugal is only 50 metres from our front door. This family friendly river beach has a very shallow end for younger children and a deeper area for swimming. The pool floor is paved and there are pool access steps.

 

Due to the design of the property it is not suited for wheelchair users or people with severe mobility problems. Although access to the property is excellent and car parking is next to the house there are a number of steps inside and out. For families with children there are child gates fitted to the stairs and the garden is fully enclosed. Although separated from the main garden by a secured gate, the river terrace is not enclosed and non swimmers should be supervised.

 

Local Area

Throughout your stay, you will be treated to the regular sight of horse drawn carts and friendly locals passing by as they take their small herds of goats to feed in the surrounding fields. The village is in a wooded valley offering picturesque views, fabulous riverside walks and a fantastic river beach, making it the ideal location for family holidays. The village has the choice of two restaurants and two cafe/bars offering great food and good value for money.

 

Mosteiro is approximately five minutes drive from the nearest main town, Pedrógão Grande, just off the IC8. This wonderful and virtually unknown area of Central Portugal has a wealth of history and culture, a diverse mix of flora and fauna and is abundantly rich in natural beauty.

 

There are also many buildings of historical importance within the region including Templar castles and churches. Two impressive sights not to be missed are the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo (The Convent of Christ) at Tomar and the historic University of Coimbra.

 

Casa de Pera is conveniently located approximately one and a half hours from Lisbon airport and two hours from Porto airport. Take the A1 toll road from either of these airports to J10 then join the IC8 towards Pedrógão Grande. Mosteiro is only a five minute drive from the main IC8 road and is clearly signed.

 

Trains are available from either airport to Pombal station. The train journey from both Lisbon and Porto to Pombal is one and a half hours. Pombal is a 30 minute drive from the property. Car hire or use of a car is highly recommended for this property. Close to Pombal station is a car hire company if required. There is also a regular bus service from Porto and Lisbon to Pedrógão Grande
