A Certidão de Não Impedimento (non-impediment certificate) is a document which is issued by your local registry office and states you are free from any 'impediment' from marrying'. If you wish to get married in Portugal, as a foreign national you will need a copy of this in order for the paperwork to be completed prior to your nuptials.

The Certidão de Não Impedimento can be issued up to six months prior to your wedding and does need to be translated into Portuguese by a registered translator of the local notary office or at the Portuguese Consulate. *please note translations carried out by non-registered translators will not be considered.
