Earning
a
living in Portugal can be much, much harder than in
your native country. First of all you may not speak the
language and even if you do speak rudimentary
Portuguese, you perhaps will not know the systems of
employment in Portugal.
However the employment laws
in Portugal, which have traditionally been biased
towards employees, are changing, slowly to encourage new
business and overseas investments. The Portuguese
government is trying hard to secure contracts with
large, multi-national companies in new technologies to
ensure Portugal can move smoothly through the 21st
century and grow it's core personnel.
Over the past decade the
Portuguese government, with the help from the European
Monetary Fund, has introduced schemes within schools,
towns and cities to ensure the availability of latest
technology is not denied to the poorest of families and
the knowledge base is on a par with other countries. One
of these schemes is the the espaço internet, which
provides internet and computer use to school uses
(preference) throughout the country free of charge to
ensure technology use is not limited to those in higher
wage brackets. |
