The situation with dog food has
altered tremendously in the past few years as the multi-national
supermarket chains have opened in every town in Portugal.
But unless
you buy one of the branded, more expensive, dog foods, you are not
so likely to be able to continue with the same food which you used
in the United Kingdom.
So remember to bring about 2 weeks supply of your normal
food so that you can introduce the new food gradually to avoid
disrupting your dog’s digestion.
Biscuit meal is not
sold in Portugal. Instead 5 kilo bags of small rice and pasta are
available, at a cost of about 2€ a sack.
Most dogs adapt extremely well to rice,
which you cook and mix with tins of dog meat. These are available at
all the supermarkets. The cost is roughly 99c a 1,200gm tin, which
is about the same as the UK. |
