Geckos, part of the
lizard family, are found throughout the world including
Portugal
and can be the best kind of house guest - one
who cleans up. Geckos, identifiable by their
rounded toes equipped with special adhesive 'hairs'
which allow them to 'hang' from |
|
ceilings and other flat surfaces,
belong to the Gekkonidae family of lizards and feast on
a variety of pests such as spiders and ants. There are
over 2,000 species of Geckos and some are prone to
losing The tail of a Gecko is part of it's
defensive structure and is detachable, much like the
common lizard.
Geckos prefer quiet, dark areas to
reside and therefore will seek out cool, houses to live
in so don't be alarmed if you see them when viewing or
renting houses in
Portugal which
have not been utilised for some time.
In actual fact Geckos can be a home's best friend and
the odd arachnophobia as the main part of a Gecko's diet
is made up of spiders and other creepy crawlies.
Geckos come in a variety of colours, however the most
common occurring in Portugal are of muted tones, with a
scaly back. |
