A Licença de Obras is a document issued by a Câmara (local council) once approval has been granted to either construct a property or restore a property.

The licence specifies the property which is to be constructed or restored, the process number it was given from the council, details of the legal owners of the property and the constructor whom will be completing the work and the length of validity of the licence.

Once a Licença de Obras has been granted you will need to pay for the license. Each license is individual and therefore it is difficult to determine how much a license will cost as it is calculated on the size of construction, the validity period of the licence and the area in which the property is located.
