The cottage is situated on the edge of the village of Linhaceira, which is around ten minutes drive south of Tomar in central Portugal. The historic town of Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, is a bustling market town with supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, pharmacies, banks, gardens and bus and train station as well as many historic monuments. Tomar also boasts a university, several sports centres, health centres, hospital, municipal gardens and historic bridges spanning the River Nabão, which runs through it.
