A two bedroom detached stone cottage with ruined cottage and land for sale close to Tomar in central Portugal. The property, which is connected to both mains water and electricity, measures 105 square metres of construction and is set on a plot measuring 2,120 square metres. The cottage is in a habitable condition, though would benefit from modernisation works. The property is set over one floor and has some metal framed and some wooden framed windows with some exterior roller shutters. The main entrance to the cottage leads into a central hallway, which has a parquet wooden floor. Off this hallway there is a living room, which also has a parquet wooden floor and wooden ceiling. The two bedrooms are also accessed off the hallway. The bedrooms have parquet wooden floors and a traditional in size and may need to be knocked into one to create a large living space. The kitchen is located at the rear of the cottage off the hallway. The kitchen has a concrete floor and a large, traditional fireplace to one corner. The bathroom, which is partially tiled has a bath with shower above, toilet, bidet and pedestal sink. Off the kitchen, via a set of double opening wooden doors, is a 'marquise' sun room which runs the length of the cottage. This sun room has a concrete floor and is double aspect. The sun room has an exterior access door which leads out to the property's garden. There is a second 'summer' kitchen off the marquise, which also has a concrete floor. This room has some built in base level units with marble work surfaces. Attached the cottage is a large storage room, which can be accessed via the summer kitchen or externally from the front. This storage room has a concrete floor and a wooden beamed ceiling and could be converted into additional living space quite easily. There is an older, stone cottage situated on the land, which is currently in a ruined condition, though could be reconstructed to provide additional living space. The ruined cottage has been set over one floor and has stone window and door surrounds. The property is set on a plot measuring 2,120 square metres, the majority of which is flat. The land has two boundaries to small, country roads and a good variety of mature fruit trees including orange, peach and lemon. There are two wells on the land for irrigation purposes. The property is connected to mains water and electricity as well as mains drains. The property is situated on the edge of the small village of Charneca Maxial, which has a cafe and small mini-market. The historic town of Tomar, is around 10 minutes drive from the property. Tomar, which has a variety of supermarkets, shops, cafes, banks, pharmacies, bus and train station, schools, bowling alley, cinema, restaurants and a UNESCO listed Convent. There are neighbouring properties on the opposite hillside, however these do not detract from the house's privacy. Tomar is a popular and bustling town, around one and a quarter hours' north of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The lake of Castelo do Bode, Portugal's second large reservoir, is around 20 minutes drive from the property. Castelo do Bode is a popular destination for many looking to enjoy a variety of water sports including skiing, fishing, swimming, sailing, canoeing and scuba diving. The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which can be accessed either by car, train or bus quite easily. Lisbon airport is serviced by a variety of low cost airlines, which operate regular flights into and out of the United Kingdom and other European countries. |
