If you
have a
log burner or
Salamandra in Portugal
you may be worried about the amount of wood you may burn
during and the winter months to
heat your home in Portugal,
and what it will cost you.
However if you are an avid reader and
regularly purchase newspapers or magazines in Portugal,
why not turn yesterday's news into tomorrow's fuel? With
a briquette maker you are not only helping the
environment by recycling, but also saving your self
money. |
|
Using
your discarded newspapers, magazines and paperwork could
also keep you busy during the spring and summer months
preparing and making briquettes for winter use.
Correctly made and dried, briquettes can burn for up to
two hours and leave a lot less ash than logs or
charcoal.
So even
if you are not worried about the cost of
heating your home in Portugal,
why not re-use paper products to help the environment
and ensure landfills in Portugal take longer to fill up.

How to Make
a Paper Briquette |
|
Once you have gathered all
of your waste paper and cardboard products you need to
soak this in a bucket of water, for at least 24 hours.
Then fill the briquette maker with the soaked pulp and
press down the handles, squeezing out the excess
moisture. Pop out the briquette and leave in a sunny
place to dry out. Once dry, store briquettes in a dry
place ready for use in the winter. |
