The cottage is situated in the village of
Moita Norte, which is a small village north of the town of Vila
Nova de Barquinha in Central Portugal. Moita Norte has several cafes,
restaurants and a mini-market, all within walking distance of the
cottage. The town of Vila Nova da Barquinha is situated on the northern
banks of the River Tagus, and has a post office, train station,
shops, bars, health centre, council office, school, children's play park
and mini-market within the town. There are several hypermarkets
within a short driving distance from the house.
Vila Nova de Barquinha is easy to locate
and has good access links off the east west A23 dual carriageway. The
larger town of Tomar, famous for it's UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo,
which was constructed by the Knight Templars, is approximately 15
minutes drive from the house. Tomar is a popular town and has bus and
train stations, hospital, secondary schools, university, art galleries,
shops, supermarkets, parks, restaurants and a weekly market.
The closest airport to the property is located at Lisbon, which is approximately one and a half hours' by car.
Lisbon airport is serviced by several low cost airlines which fly in and
out of the United Kingdom. |
