A deceptively large
detached house with six bedrooms and 9,520 square metres of land for
sale close to Tomar. The property, which is set over two floors, is
connected to mains and electricity and does require modernisation
work to be carried out.
The house is located
in an elevated position above a quiet access road. There is a gravel
driveway which leads to the rear of the house and plenty of off road
parking. The property has metal framed windows and doors and there
are some integral roller shutters. The window and door surrounds are
marble and there is a covered portico to the main entrance on the
first floor, which is accessed via an exterior staircase.
The property is set
over two floor and although traditionally the living accommodation
would have been limited to the first floor, the current owners have
adapted the ground floor from storage to habitation, though some
updating would be desirable.
There is a double
opening metal entrance door to the ground floor. This leads into the
property's adega (wine store). The adega has a tiled floor and a
wine crushing vat to one corner. The current owners of the property
have been utilising this room as a living room cum dining room.
There is also a wooden staircase which leads to the first floor
accommodation within this room. Internal access to the garage is
also via this adega.
A small hallway,
which also has a vinyl floor covering provides access to the first
of the property's bedrooms. The bedroom is a good sized double and
has a vinyl floor covering. The hallway also leads to both of the
property's two kitchens. The first kitchen is very traditional in
design and has a large, corner fireplace, a vinyl floor covering and
a built in base level unit to one wall. The second kitchen has a
tiled floor, partially tiled walls and built in base level open
fronted units. There is a stainless steel sink and drainer and the
work surfaces are marble. This kitchen also has a part glazed
exterior access door which leads out to the rear of the property.
Off the kitchen there is a partially tiled bathroom. The bathroom
has a walk in shower, toilet, bidet and pedestal sink.
There are five good
sized bedrooms to the first floor, all of which have wooden floors
and some have internal wooden shutters. One of the bedrooms also has
a traditional style fireplace. All the bedrooms are accessed off a
centralised hallway, which also has a wooden floor and ceiling.
The living room is
also accessed off the hallway and is double aspect. The living room
has a wooden floor and ceiling and a double opening exterior door,
which leads to the exterior staircase at the front of the house.
There is a partially tiled bathroom to this floor, which has a bath,
toilet, bidet and pedestal sink. In addition to this there are a
further two rooms to the first floor, both of which act like
hallways and both of which have wooden floors. One of these rooms
houses the staircases to the ground floor and attic. The second room
provides access to the bathroom and to one of the bedrooms.
The property's attic
is in good condition and although has only been used for storage
purposes, could be converted into a master bedroom quite easily. The
attic has a concrete floor, exposed stone walls and a wooden beamed
roof.
At the rear of the
house there is a large, two storey barn, which has been constructed
in red brick. The barn is spacious and divided up into several room
divisions. To one of the rooms there is a traditional style bread
oven. The barn has been used for storage purposes and there are
animals pens inside as well, though would make an ideal workshop.
The property is set
on a plot measuring 9,520 square metres. There are three wells on
the land and two large water storage tanks for irrigating the land.
The property has a good variety of mature fruit and olive trees in
situ including orange and tangerine as well as a number of mature
grape vines.
The property is set
in an elevated position above the access road and although there are
two properties nearby, both are on a lower elevation so do not
impede privacy.
The property is
situated in the small hamlet of Portelinhas which is only a short
one minute drive from the nearest cafe bar and mini-market at the
neighbouring village. The larger town of Tomar, which is home to the
UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, is around 10 minutes drive from
the property.
Tomar is a bustling
market town with a variety of supermarkets, shops, cafes,
restaurants, bars, banks, health centres, hospitals, schools, bus
and train station and university. The property is also only a short
10 minute drive from Castelo do Bode lake, which is popular for all
kinds of water sport activities.
The closest airport
to the property is situated at Lisbon, which is around one and a
half hours' by car. Lisbon airport is serviced by a variety of low
cost airlines, which operate regular flights into and out of the
United Kingdom and other European countries. |
